Includes Little Pim for Park is new, with lots of grass and young trees. Lots of dog walking area around lake. There are fire rings and picnic tables at each site. Restrooms are clean, but showers are not women's side had dirt under bench and mulitple day hair buildup on the floor.
Also, well water has caused brown rust stains on everything, so it looks unappealing, and water has a very unpleasant mineral odor and taste. A sign claims they are intending to install a filtration system. There is one spigot at the office, but it is connected to a garden hose and I would not put that water in my tank anyway, so bring your tank full from outside. There are variable length sites, so choose carefully. There is room at front of RV sites to diagonally park a vehicle.
No at-site sewer, but there is a dump station. Very over priced based on lack of at-site sewer and water issues. This place would be an 8 if it had at-site, decent water. We would not stay again unless they improve the water quality. I started camping here last August after I had bought my rv. This was my very first time camping pretty close to home. At first, I though this place looks pretty bad however, I went up the hill and around by the river where full hook ups were.
It was unbelievably NICE!! Very quiet and hardly no campers. I drove around and yes, around the office there are A LOT of run down and abandoned campers. I couldn't believe how HUGE this place was. For a "Tent Camper" this is the place!! Yes, some security officers were "sorta" scary, but once you get to know them, they are ok people. The guy in the office is very nice and helpful. Its not the owner's fault people leave their garbage everywhere!!! They should clean up after themselves.
I have never had any problems camping here. Its been quiet and very peaceful!!! Yes, a little clean up would do wonders!! Again, Thats on the "Seasonal's and Yearlys". Again, its a campground!! I have never seen any criminal activity and I have been at this campground every weekend so far this year and every weekend from the time I bought my rv in July last year.
Nothing, to show me, I wouldnt camp here. There is no check out time and again, it was quiet every time. Even, Memorial weekend this year, it was quiet!!! I had an electrical problem, called the office and they were there within 20 min to fix the issue.
Matter of fact they replaced the entire breaker. This campground is very peaceful and the people are friendly the Seasonals and yearlys. I would recommend this place to family and friends all day and night. The park was a lot cleaner as the week progressed. The park has a very bad reputation which I believe is not warranted. There are a lot of very very old rv's here and some of them need to be demolished. The roads are full of pot holes which make you slow down. I don't think it would be any worse with speed bumps. The primitive areas are scenic except there were few bathrooms and no showers.
The section we were in, A2, was very nice, flat long and the utilities worked great. They man the gate all night.
The full time residents are near the front and everyone else is in the back. Everyone we came in contact with was nice and helpful. The camp store was well stocked with parts and some food. The store was not overpriced. We pulled into this campground if you can call it that, and paid for a two night stay. While my husband was inside paying I just got a bad feeling about this place. It felt like a place you would see in a horror movie.
The road into it was narrow and full of holes, a man in a raggedy golf cart led us to an area and told us to "pick a site". We got out if the RV and looked for a site with sewer hook ups. Could not find one with water electric and sewer. The sites were just grassy and muddy. Nothing about this place said "camp here, feel safe". We began to wonder if we were in a junkyard or campground.
We decided that neither of us had a good feeling, so we drove back to the office aka shack and got our money back. My husband said it was no problem and they probably had it happen before. My cousin said the place was known for drug raids and murders!!! Stay away from this place unless you like living or staying in an area where your life is in danger. Hideaway should be condemned and buried!!!
The specifics from the previous reviews are accurate. This is a sweet little place, far superior to most commercial parks. Convenient to the Chicago area for whatever might bring you to the area. The staff was very friendly and the park was spotless. No Sewer, no Shade, and no showers. That being said, let's get on to the good things: Wide paved roads with generous and level gravel water and 50 amp electric sites.
Of the 96 RV sites, 8 are pull throughs also gravel. You need a long hose to hook up to water. We drove in, selected our site and a park attendant drove up in an ATV to collect the fee cash or check. What a great park. Five year old county park. No sewer, showers, or shade. They are discussing adding those.
THE BEST Nightlife in Naperville - TripAdvisor
Could put three campers on the same site. Water shared between two sites, and requires 75' of water hose.
Aurora, 2nd largest town in Illinois, is 12 miles away and has full services, and commuter train into Chicago. Greatest draw is access to Chicago.
